Tax Systems
Expert systems are quite frequently used in connection with tax calculations. Many countries require their determines how much income tax they have to pay. The system asks questions about:
- their income
- the number of children they have (some countries allow tax relief for children)
- savings they have (most countries make people pay tax on any interest they earn)
- pension contributions they make (some countries allow tax relief on these)
- how old they are (people of a certain age pay less tax in some countries)
- whether they are a resident (some countries allow non-residents to pay a different level of tax).
