Route Scheduling for vehicles
This type of expert system calculates the most efficient route for delivery vehicles. The towns or areas to be visited are input to the system and it then outputs the shortest route for the vehicle to enable it to visit all the delivery points. This enables the delivery company to make the deliveries in the cheapest way. Typical users are postal service delivery vehicles, courier companies and travelling sales people. The inputs required are details about:
whether it is mountainous or flat. Some systems also allow for the price of fuel at the various locations to be entered, so that the most economical route can be produced. The manager of the transport system will be able to take suggestions from the expert system and decide on the number of vehicles and drivers needed and the total time to be taken.
